The coastal side put one foot in the playoffs following the victory
The current men's Kenya Volleyball Federation national league leaders Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) picked their eleventh straight win of the season as they comfortably saw off the challenge of an enterprising Kenya Forest Services (KFS) on Thursday afternoon.
In that sixth leg opening match staged at the Nyayo National Stadium, the Sammy Mulinge coached side condemned KFS to a 25-23, 25-19, 25-23 straight set victory to collect all three available points as they maintained their unbeaten run so far this season.
Before the match, the giant slaying KFS side were oozing in confidence having beaten Kenya Prisons in the fifth leg and made for a tricky opposition against the tricky leaders.
However, their killing instincts were nowhere to be seen as the coastal based side picked the win that pushed them even closer to sealing a playoff spot.
"We came into the game very wary of KFS because of late they have shown that they are capable of competing against the big teams. Due to that, we had very intense preparations in our training as we did not want to take any chances. I am glad that we got the three points which will ensure we have one foot in the playoffs as we move foward," Mulinge told Mozzart Sport after the match.
On Friday, KPA and GSU who lead the race for play-offs slots with 31 and 26 points respectively will face ff against each other in a mouth watering clash.
The two unbeaten sides sit in position one and two on the table.
